How do I get coaching clients?

This is one of the most frequently asked questions that I get. Getting clients is one of the most difficult parts of your business. Here are some ideas that will help you get coaching clients for your business.

  1. Invest Time in Understanding Your Clients’ Needs

The first step to do this is to define who your ideal customer is. Find out what age group, occupation, gender you will be targeting. Analyze your own strengths and weaknesses. Once you have a clear idea of who your targeted customer is, marketing your products or services will become much easier.

  1. Join Toastmasters

You won’t get any clients directly from Toastmasters, but it will help you in many indirect ways. The main benefit of joining a Toastmasters group is that you will improve your speaking skills and find a lot of opportunities to speak in front of people. It is also an amazing place to build business connections which will help you gain more clients in the long run.

  1. Build a Network

You need to work hard to build a huge network of business connections that can send you referrals or leads. Start with your existing clients; give them incentives to recommend you to their friends.

There are many other ways to expand your network too. Join groups related to your business, reach out people you know who might be interested in your services, or ask them to introduce you to other people.

Participating in business events, joining online forums, contributing to Quora, and blogging or vlogging are some other ways to build and expand your network.

  1. Get into Public Speaking

This is one of the best ways to get noticed by potential clients. Speakers are in high demand in almost all industries. You will probably have to work for free or just expenses when you begin, but that’s okay because this is more of a marketing opportunity than anything else.

Keep in mind that getting clients via public speaking is not easy. Don’t expect clients to come to you after your first speech. It all depends on how powerful your speech is and whether the audience needs what you are offering. So, work hard on your speeches.

  1. Improve Your Online Presence

Creating and maintaining an online presence does not have to be difficult. Start a blog and create an account on different social networks. Share your knowledge and insights on your blog and on social media. Also, learn the basics of search engine optimization so that you can take advantage of search engines to get an audience. Here are some other ideas you can use to ‘growth hack’ your way to building an online following –

– Guest post on other blogs

– Write on Quora

– Interview people or get interviewed

– Build a connection with influencers in your niche.

The main thing you need to remember is that the internet world is constantly evolving and what works today may not work tomorrow. So, keep learning about new techniques to connect with people online and grow your audience.
