BECOME A COACH

Guide others towards clarity
Learn the structures & techniques behind a certified coach

What is Coaching?

Many of our students come here with no prior knowledge to what coaching is. Some get asked advice many times in their life, and some see situations clearer than their peers, allowing them to see the blindspots in a given scenario. Many of them try to relate their experience and give their advice to the other party, many already have inherent qualities of being a coach.

Now what we want to do is to impart the technique and the structure being what coaching really is.

Understand more about yourself
Improve communication & interpersonal relationships
Develop self-awareness in others

“The Professional Coach Training Program has been a really wonderful experience and learning journey. The classroom training and club activities provided a fantastic platform for us learn more about ourselves and others.

This course has definitely met my expectations. Today, I’m able to bring out the best in not only myself, but those around me, including friends and family.

The PCTP program is well structured and the trainers are experienced, dedicated and motivating. The entire class supported each other throughout the program, and the sense of connection among us has added even more value to this program.”

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

Coaching is a collaborative partnership between a coach and a willing client, which connects at a deep personal level of their values, beliefs, and vision.

Coaching enables—through a process of discovery, goal setting and specific action steps—the realization of extraordinary results. Coaching is inter-developmental in that the collaboration develops both the client as well as the coach.

Most people assume that coaches require field-specific knowledge in order to work with the client, as is with the case of mentors, trainers and consultants (i.e. they advise the client on what to do based on prior experience).

Coaches, however, do not advise.

Coaches enable a client’s self-discovery and empower them by drawing from their own creativity and resourcefulness to cause their results, thereby increasing their client’s ability, self-confidence and self-esteem in the process. Because clients are able to generate their own solutions and actions, they can repeat their success in the future

A typical counselling program will take you through to your past, which might include some form of trauma, and healing of emotional pain or conflict within you or between you and others.

Its focus is in resolving the past, whereas the focus of coaching is on understanding the past as the context in which future goals are set.

A responsible coach knows when it is useful to look at the past in order to identify the source of their client’s limiting beliefs before moving into solutions, action, accountability and follow-through sessions.

The Professional Coach Training Program™ (PCTP) is for individuals who wish to be professionally certified coaches.

This program is accredited by the International Coach Federation (ICF), which is the leading global organization for coaches with more than 22,000 members in over 100 countries. This means your certification will be recognized worldwide, should you wish to coach anywhere in the world.

The Professional Coach Training Program™ gives you the ability to connect with people at a deeper level. It allows you to assist them to engage in self-discovery, creating breakthroughs, while finding their own solutions to challenges. This program is aimed to set you on the path towards being a successful coach.

You do not require any prior knowledge or skills to become a coach. Through our extensive experience in this field, we’ve found that the best coaches are curious, flexible and open to exploring different aspects of the client’s issue(s).

Other qualities that you can develop to become an exceptional coach are acute observational skills, self-awareness, self-discipline, and a sense of ownership and responsibility. Above all, a responsible coach has a real desire to make a difference in people’s lives, including their own.

In the Professional Coach Training Program™ we equip you with the ability to use the ICF Core Competencies and principles successfully to coach any issue and client from any background. These universal coaching skills can be used in conjunction with any existing specializations which you have. For example, career consultants could become career coaches; someone with expertise in health and fitness could be a wellness coach.

Many of our trainees come from related developmental professions such as consulting and counseling. They have found coaching to be a valuable addition to their repertoire of existing skills, which gives them wider options and coverage when working with clients.

Coaching has gained wider recognition in recent years – but this also means that the industry is becoming largely unregulated. This raises the question; how do you know you’re getting the real deal? Our Professional Coach Training Program™ is accredited by the International Coach Federation, which is the leading global organization for coaches with more than 22,000 members in over 100 countries.

Upon completion of the relevant modules and meeting ICF criteria, you will gain a credential that will be recognized worldwide. This assures you and your clients of the quality of your work, and you’ll be more confident to know that your coaching and rack rates are benchmarked against an internationally acclaimed standard.

A face-to-face, interactive program like ours sets your training experience apart. The Professional Coach Training Program™ is the only Singapore-based Accredited Coach Training Program (ACTP) to offer you a complete face-to-face training in an all-inclusive program that comprises a start-to-finish coach training.

These experiences cannot be achieved from web-based learning, which are great for knowledge, but lack the impact and immediacy of live feedback during your coaching drills, which will be crucial for coach training.

Coaching programs can be easily found in the market, but a valuable takeaway you’ll get from us cannot be bought – that is a community of people. We have an alumni of graduate coaches and coach-trainees where you’ll get most of your life-changing moments with the exchange of thoughts and experience.

The dynamism in our programs are also why our trainees are able to get credentialed in half the industry time.

You will receive hands-on practicum and exclusive attention—that’s why our classes are capped at a maximum of 20 participants to allow each trainee to receive adequate attention, while capitalizing on the diverse backgrounds of the group members.

We’ve found that on-the-ground experience and real-time feedback from trainers are the best ways our participants can entrench their learning.

Absolutely! Some of our course graduates have set up their own businesses and are successful practicing coaches. While we do not mentor our trainees in this area, there are many online resources and forums that share the know-hows of doing so.

That said, you’ll find that because of your training with ECI, you’re equipped with the necessary skills to deliver an exceptional coaching experience with your clients with proven results and ROI, leading to increased referrals for your business.

The ICF offers credentials at three levels:

Associate Certified Coach (ACC) – 100 client coaching hours

Professional Certified Coach (PCC) – 500 client coaching hours

Master Certified Coach (MCC) – 2,500 client coaching hours

At ECI, we are able to prepare you up to the Professional Certified Coach (PCC) accreditation. This requires you to complete all 4 modules of the Professional Coach Training Program™ and pass a 30-minute coaching exam.

If you wish to get credentialed at the ACC level only, you can go through the ASCTH route, where you complete Modules 1 and 2 of the Professional Coach Training Program™ and receive 3 hours of mentor coaching. The ASCTH route does not qualify you for a PCC credential.

Each credential level is valid for 3 years. Renewals are possible with Continuing Coach Education (CCE) units.

Detailed requirements for the different credential levels can be found on the ICF website.

Our Founding Story
Kelvin Lim
Southeast Asia’s first Master Coach
Founder & Principal Coach, ECI
Kelvin Lim, our founder, started his coaching journey in the ’90s. Very early on in his life during his teenage years, he made a decision to devote his life to understanding and helping people. Even though his major was in science and business, he devoured all the major psychology texts by the time he was fourteen. Being a practical person, he wanted to find a way to apply his understanding of human beings to practical use. It was not only until a friend introduced him to coaching that he found a way to help people in a way that was not only practical but also forwarding at the same time. He was amazed by the results that coaching had on himself and people, which cemented his decision to become a professional coach. At that time, coaching was still in its nascent stages and not widely available in Singapore. Being a young graduate then who did not have a lot of money, he borrowed money from friends to fly to the US to undergo his coach training.

Finishing his coach training at a breakneck speed, he managed to acquire his coach certification in record time. He returned back to Singapore and founded Executive Coach International (ECI) in 2004. In the following year, he acquired his Master Certified Coach credential from the International Coach Federation (ICF) – the first person in South East Asia to do so.

In 2010, Executive Coach International was awarded the Accredited Coach Training Program (ACTP) from the ICF. This certificate recognizes ECI worldwide as a coaching organization which adheres to the highest professional standards in coach training. Coaches trained under ECI will have their coach training recognized internationally by the ICF.

Today, Executive Coach International is one of the largest and most successful professional coaching organizations in Singapore and the region that focuses on transforming human potential into tangible, lasting results. ECI is reputed for a consistently high success rate, with over 95% of our clients’ issues resolved and coaching goals achieved. ECI’s coaching technology is unique and is founded upon the principles that govern human evolution. Our coach training syllabus is based on these proven coaching techniques that have transformed thousands of lives over the years.

We continue to provide quality training to coaches internationally, with coaches coming from all over the world to train with us.
